  Finishing packing, returning my RA materials, and heading out to a dinner with family.

  ... One year after graduating?

  I'll have finished the first year of my PhD in economics at Ohio State and (hopefully) enjoying the summer!

  ... Ten years after graduating?

  I hope to be an academic economist at a research university, studying problems at the intersections of urban, labor, development, and public economics. I'd love to be located in an urban area myself - engaging with its people, learning its culture, and working to address its issues.

  Please share any comments you have on the impact that Honors has had on your undergraduate experience:

  Writing my Honors thesis in my junior year was a transformative experience. My first stab at research guided me to think seriously about the kinds of things that interested me and wanted to pursue further, and allowed me to build connections with some fantastic people along the way.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  See and enjoy as much of this university as you can! There will always be spots you haven't visited (yeah, even study spots), interesting clubs you haven't joined, people you haven't met, experiences you haven't shared. Go explore!

  ... One day after graduating?

  Taking the day off and enjoying the warm summer with college friends, then preparing to start work as an intern for KPFF Consulting Engineers.

  ... One year after graduating?

  Back to school! I will be attending Grad School again at the University of Washington pursuing a Masters in Structural Engineering.

  ... Ten years after graduating?

  Leading a family as we grow closer to God and each other, and managing projects at a small structural engineering firm from start to finish.

  Please share any comments you have on the impact that Honors has had on your undergraduate experience:

  It has allowed me to gain a more diverse and interdisciplinary education by training me in fields other than engineering, and given me friends outside of my specific academic interests. Additionally it has given me access to opportunities with faculty which have been incredibly valuable experiences.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  If you find you can meld your major with the Honors requirements, it is certainly worth sticking through to the end. You likely will not realize all the impact the Honors Program has had until you've come through it!

  Adolescent sleep effect on body composition, activity level, and nutrition.

  Where do you expect to be...

  ... One day after graduating?

  I aspire to work as a critical care RN serving the diverse population at Harborview Medical Center. I currently serve on the Professional Organization of Nursing Students Executive Board and Student Council and hope to continue working with the UW SON Alumni Board following graduation.

  ... One year after graduating?

  I will most likely be working in an Intensive Care Unit or Emergency Department, studying for the GRE and Critical Care Registered Nurse license, and preparing an application to apply to various Nurse Anesthetist programs.

  ... Ten years after graduating?

  I have traveled to Panama and Honduras with medical professionals to provide primary care in rural communities. I hope to continue traveling internationally throughout my career and create innovative approaches that empower families with preventative care knowledge and healthcare resources.

  Please share any comments you have on the impact that Honors has had on your undergraduate experience:

  The honor's program through the UW School of Nursing has allowed me to diversify and strengthen my network in addition to participating in other opportunities such as research and presenting at various conferences.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  Work hard and participate honor's programs because it will open up new windows of opportunity that will enrich your academic experience.

  Outside, catching up on the Seattle education blogs I haven't been able to read, or with friends I haven't had enough time with! Or taking a class at the Northwest Film Forum.

  On the Trans-Siberian railway to Ulaanbaatar, about halfway through my Bonderman Fellowship. :)

  Crashing my younger sister's ten-year high school reunion.

  Please share any comments you have on the impact that Honors has had on your undergraduate experience:

  Honors has really challenged me to reconsider how knowledge is shared between different kinds of scholars, and how scholarly relationships are structured in a university setting; e.g. the professor who had to miss class for an academic conference and sent us selfies of the cool things he was seeing.

  Please share any comments you have on the impact that Honors has had on your undergraduate experience:

  The Honors floor of Lander introduced me to all of my closest friends- something I did not expect but will always be grateful for.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  Take advice from others with a grain of salt. We aren't that much older or wiser. Experiencing things for yourself is the best way to learn what is right for you.

  The Impact of Climate Change on Vector Borne Infectious Diseases

  Where do you expect to be...

  ... One day after graduating?

  The day after graduation I plan to spend the day with my family and friends who came to Seattle for graduation. These celebrations will be followed by frantically preparing for the first day of graduate school which starts June 17th.

  ... One year after graduating?

  In one year, I plan to be at Seattle University working toward my Master's in Nursing to become a family nurse practitioner.

  ... Ten years after graduating?

  In ten years I want to be working as a family nurse practitioner specializing in pediatric infectious disease. I plan to combine this clinical work with research in the field of infectious diseases. This work could have me in Seattle, somewhere in the United States, or on another continent.

  With my friends and family, celebrating. And sleeping! Finally.

  At the University of Washington School of Law. Because 4 years here obviously wasn't enough.

  Geez, I don't know. Probably practicing law or working with a non-profit in Seattle.

  Please share any comments you have on the impact that Honors has had on your undergraduate experience:

  Honors was great in both broadening and deepening my educational experience. While I was able to take classes far outside my major, I was also able to complete advanced courses and do research in my chosen field of study, political communication.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  Don't forget that an incredibly important part of your college experience is learning to be a better person--and most of the time, that sort of education doesn't happen in the classroom. Make room in your life for things besides your classes.

  ... One day after graduating?

  This already occurred back in December. I think I spent a long time at a cafe watching people's interactions while pretending to read a book.

  ... One year after graduating?

  I will embark upon an exploration of Israel and beyond.

  ... Ten years after graduating?

  Among other things unbeknownst to me, I intend to live in closer proximity to my family.

  Please share any comments you have on the impact that Honors has had on your undergraduate experience:

  Living on the Honors floor introduced me to a few of the most inquisitive, talented, and wittiest minds I have ever encountered. As it turns out, the people attached to those brains also made for excellent friends. The academic requirements encouraged me to avoid academic complacency.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  Find a way to make volunteer work a part of your life. It will likely end up being much more mutually beneficial than you initially imagined. My experience with serving food at a soup kitchen in the U-District has helped me connect with and learn from a wide variety of people in my community.

  ... One day after graduating?

  I will be finalizing logistics for a month long trip to Japan I will be taking with my best friend from high school.

  ... One year after graduating?

  I am working at Janicki Industries as an engineer, and will be living in the Bow/Edison area. I've never lived in a city with less than 100,000 people. Bow/Edison has just over 100. It's going to be an adventure--I can't wait.

  Celebrating the 10 year anniversary of being asked this question.

  Please share any comments you have on the impact that Honors has had on your undergraduate experience:

  The Honors Program kept me balanced. It was a break from equations, and allowed me to explore my auxiliary interests. In a world where specialization is emphasized, it was a place where I could embrace everything about myself rather than having to just pick one thing.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  Hold on tight.

  If you completed an Honors Thesis or Honors Research Project, what was the title or topic?

  Mapping Silence, Missing Borders: Performance and Politics in Rural Nicaragua

  Where do you expect to be...

  ... One day after graduating?

  I expect to be doing a happy jig. And, if it's sunny, lying outside with a good book. If it's raining, lying in my bed with a good book.

  ... One year after graduating?

  Hopefully researching and living in South America.

  ... Ten years after graduating?

  I'm not planning that far ahead yet! But perhaps working towards a PhD in the social sciences and incorporating dance. At the very least, dancing everyday in my bedroom.

  Please share any comments you have on the impact that Honors has had on your undergraduate experience:

  Honors has guided me to interdisciplinary classes with a strong focus on social justice issues, classes that have helped me see myself and my interests as fitting into a rigorous academic environment. It has also introduced me to professors and students who have become mentors and inspirations.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  Take classes that look interesting and inspiring to you, even if they're not in your plan.

  Business Administration - Finance

  Where do you expect to be...

  ... One day after graduating?

  Relaxing with friends and family, reminiscing on the best four years of my life.

  ... One year after graduating?

  I will be just finishing up my Bonderman Fellowship adventure around the world, thus I will most likely be doing some more relaxing and reminiscing before working and attend the Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) Master's Program at UW.

  ... Ten years after graduating?

  Hopefully either working in technology or sports. I want to combine writing, finance and HCDE to create something that will hopefully change the way people live.

  Please share any comments you have on the impact that Honors has had on your undergraduate experience:

  As a business major in the Interdisciplinary Honors Program, I was challenged to think differently and look at things from different perspectives. Likewise, I was able to bring my own unique perspective to the table, and often introduce an incentive-oriented approach to problem solving.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  1) Study abroad - You will not regret it. It gives you a broader perspective on life, the world and the human race. 2) It's ok to not know what you want to do right away - now is the time to explore, experiment and pursue your passions. 3) Take advantage of opportunities, but have fun

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  Don't be afraid to advocate for yourself. UW bureaucracy can be intimidating, but you have the power to make your experience whatever you want it to be. You just have to ask.

  The Preliminary Efficacy, Feasibility and Acceptability of a Brief Audio-Guided Online Dialectical Behavior Therapy Mindfulness Skills Intervention for College Students

  Where do you expect to be...

  ... One day after graduating?

  Hanging out with friends and playing the fiddle until my hands fall off (it is a reversible process though).

  ... One year after graduating?

  Earning a PhD in clinical psychology at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, trying hard to not complain about the heat and snow, and bragging to friends about how incomparably awesome the Pacific Northwest is. And maybe starting an urban farm for the school to replicate the awesomeness of UW Farm.

  ... Ten years after graduating?

  1. Teaching random fun classes with bizarre titles at some community college in the middle of nowhere, and totally enjoying it. 2. Still playing the fiddle, in an Old Time dance band with some kind of weird name like Duck's Eyeballs or Buffalo and Chickens. 3. Practicing as a psychotherapist.

  Please share any comments you have on the impact that Honors has had on your undergraduate experience:

  Conducting a research project from start to finish taught me so much about working with peers and mentors. Although I learned from it that a research career is not what I want, I enjoy the fruits of my hard work, and have discovered another future path that is more meaningful and motivating to me.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  Plan, but savor the moment. Don't be afraid to drop and quit things that are draining and no longer meaningful to you. Less is more. All you need is to do one thing really well. Awards and honors are awesome, but what REALLY sticks with you is fun, friendship, and living each day by your values.

  Savoring the relief and nostalgia that comes with the end of an undergraduate career.

  Preparing to embark on the next big academic adventure of my life: a Ph.D. program in Molecular Genetics hopefully!

  Probably still endlessly fascinated by the discoveries being made in the sciences and hopefully making some of those discoveries myself! Mostly, though, I hope to be with the people I cherish and always pursuing/doing the things I love.

  The Honors Program has allowed me the amazing opportunity to build stronger liaisons with professors and challenge myself academically.

  Devote yourself to what you enjoy will unlock doors to many opportunities, so work hard and be patient.

  Please share any comments you have on the impact that Honors has had on your undergraduate experience:

  I really enjoyed being a part of the Honors program. It was challenging and overwhelming at times, but I have been working with a really great group of people and learned a lot in the last year.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  One year to work on a research project goes by quickly, but it all comes together in the end!

  Drawing the Line: An Exploration into the Complex and Contradictory Relationships Between Humans and Other Primates

  Where do you expect to be...

  ... One day after graduating?

  Sitting on my parents couch with my cat and no assignments to worry about!

  ... One year after graduating?

  At the University of Notre Dame working toward a Ph.D. in Anthropology.

  Hopefully teaching at the UW and chasing monkeys through the jungles of South America!

  Please share any comments you have on the impact that Honors has had on your undergraduate experience:

  Participating in Honors allowed me to branch out of my department and meet some incredible professors and students that I otherwise might not have met.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  Be persistent in your work and your goals! If you hit a roadblock, find a way around and keep moving. The hard work is worth it in the end.

  An autonomous MuLE within a C class gene underlies double flowered varieties of Thalictrum thalictroides

  Where do you expect to be...

  ... One day after graduating?

  I expect to be at home with my family in Kirkland or trying desperately to pack up my stuff to move out of my apartment.

  ... One year after graduating?

  I will be teaching high school Biology in Baltimore, MD. I am leaving shortly after graduation to move to Baltimore and learn how to be a teacher. I will begin teaching in the fall and I am very exited and nervous.

  ... Ten years after graduating?

  I plan to be back in Seattle working in the public schools. I will have gone back to UW and done the principal program here. I will hopefully be working as a principal in a south Seattle school.

  Please share any comments you have on the impact that Honors has had on your undergraduate experience:

  Honors was a place for me to take exceptionally interesting classes from wonderful professors, meet people who have become wonderful friends and to explore the world via study abroad. It has been wonderful.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  Don't be afraid to just take a class because it is interesting. Even if it doesn't seem to fit into a graduation requirement, some of my most fun and interesting classes were the ones I took just because I thought they would be interesting.

  My thesis, written in Spanish, focused on how Bartolomͩ de las Casas' rhetoric compelled the Spanish crown to change its brutal policies in the New World.

  ... One day after graduating?

  Spending quality time with friends before moving away from Seattle!

  I will be finishing my first year of medical school.

  I hope to be fulfilling my dream of international medical work.

• Lisa Dang

  Spring 2014

  Which Honors designation will you be graduating with?

  College Honors

  Accounting, International Business

  Where do you expect to be...

  ... One day after graduating?

  I will be going on a cruise to Alaska with all of my visiting relatives -- and then preparing for my trip to Greece!

  ... One year after graduating?

  I will be working at a consulting firm called Alvarez & Marsal as an Analyst. I hope I will be helping companies grow and develop!

  ... Ten years after graduating?

  Can't possibly plan that far, but hopefully I'll be working somewhere I love (perhaps internationally), creating a positive impact on the world!

  Please share any comments you have on the impact that Honors has had on your undergraduate experience:

  It has opened me to numerous new experiences and challenged me to venture out of my comfort zone. I have met many intelligent and inspirational individuals, and am grateful for the Honors program in acting as a medium.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  It's school, but remember to take breaks and have fun! Those are the times you'll remember most, so remember to make them!

  Neurobiology

  If you completed an Honors Thesis or Honors Research Project, what was the title or topic?

  Microglia Toll-like Receptor and Interferon Signaling in Ischemic Preconditioning

  Where do you expect to be...

  ... One day after graduating?

  I graduated last quarter and the moment I came home, I passed out on the couch for three days. As the first to graduate college in my family, I thought I would celebrate after my last final. I guess I ended up celebrating in my sleep.

  ... One year after graduating?

  Now that I have graduated, I am currently studying for my MCAT and leaving my position as a research assistant in the Weinstein lab to gain experience conducting research in the area of infectious diseases, hopefully with the NIH. I will also travel to Nicaragua with the Global Medical Brigade.

  ... Ten years after graduating?

  I will obtain an MD or MD/PhD degree, and continue conducting research probably in Malaria. I see myself teaching at a university and/or traveling to my native country of Ghana to provide care at a clinic located in my neighborhood. I will start a scholarship program that supports females in school.

  Please share any comments you have on the impact that Honors has had on your undergraduate experience:

  The honors program in Neurobiology provided the challenge I needed to blossom into the scientist I am today. The knowledge I gained allowed me to accurately interpret scientific data, conduct research independently, and write my senior thesis. I even published as a second author in an article!

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  At some point, there will be a voice in your head saying that you are incapable of achieving certain goals you have set for yourself. Do not listen to that voice. That voice told me not to apply to college, my major, honors, research opportunities, or scholarships. But I did, and received them all.

  I met the best friends, had the best experiences, and discovered that it's possible to spend life happy and always learning!

  Celebrating, making plans to visit my Grandmother who recently beat cancer, and looking into traveling abroad.

  While I am finishing my first graphic novel and working towards it getting published, I will be working in a business that utilizes the skills I learned here.

  In a decade no one will remember you for your accolades here but they will remember the person you were. If you see someone struggling be there for them. Seeing the friends I have made here succeed is worth more than what is written on my diploma any day.

  Doing the honors summer study abroad to Amsterdam was transformative in several ways: taking seminars from the university there, Rob Corser opening my eyes for architecture, Clifford Tatum introducing me to social science research, and, of course, spending a summer in Amsterdam when you're 19.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  Spend time with new people who are interesting and challenging, travel to dispel the idea that what you're comfortable with is normal (Europe doesn't really count), take a Clarke Speed class if he decides to stick around, and remember that your life is not your resume.

  Although I really enjoy science, I appreciated that Honors gave me an opportunity to take interesting classes beyond the neurobiology and pre-med requirements. These courses drastically changed how I view the world and also my own identity. In addition, I loved being part of the Honors community!

  Don't get too set on the original plans you have for your college experience. Some of the most important and memorable things I did at UW completely contradicted my initial expectations, and it turned out much better that way!

  The Psychology Honors project was a really great way to initiate myself to research and the entire process of conception, development, analysis, and production. There's so many little steps and details that get overlooked when one is simply reading the final paper or taking part in a project.

  My best friends are the people I met on the honors floor my freshman year, and these are people that I want to be friends with for the rest of my life. That's pretty powerful. Honors classes and professors were also a godsend during the terrible quarters of science weed out classes.

  It's better to do a few things well than many things shoddily. I did not follow this advice and it made me overworked and sucked the joy out of my life. Do things out of interest, not obligation.

  Do ALL the things! People say college is the time you need to start focusing on just one interest and slowly get rid of your hobbies. They're wrong.   College is competitive; but it's never a good reason to let it get in the way of making friends or collaborating with someone you think is your "competition". You'll forget those GPA's and decimal points but you'll never forget the college friends you loved enough to invite to your wedding.

  The honors program is amazing. I met my best friends there, made the greatest memories (Lander 8!) and learned from the smartest faculty and students.

  Always go to the Honors Bake-Off because Honors students make the most amazing cookies! You don't want to miss it! And don't forget to smile, especially during finals week :-)

  Honors has surrounded me with a community of students who are somehow extremely motivated, involved, academic, passionate, well-rounded, high-performing, and fun all at the same time. This keeps me inspired to constantly stay motivated and engaged in academics, extracurriculars, and life in general.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  Besides learning how to live and learn, networking is probably the most important thing you can get out of your college experience. So stay actively involved and always check your email for free food opportunities that offer a catered dinner and the chance to meet new people and learn new things.

  In one year I hope to be graduating from the Bioengineering masters program. I have been given the opportunity to continue my research and complete a masters project within one year. One more year! The extra degree will open up job opportunities that would otherwise be restricted.

  The beauty of this question is that it bypasses my decision regarding graduate school. Whether I pursue a PhD or not, I will be working in industry developing the next generation of brain computer interfaces.

  The honors program has allowed me to diversify my knowledge base. At heart I am a Jack-of-all-trades, so the opportunity to explore the workings of many different fields has been extremely valuable to my personal development.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  Stick with it! I know that pushing a full credit load, quarter after quarter, is tiresome. Just remember the bright eyed freshman that started this journey and follow through!

  Sleeping! That is certainly a given. On the 15th I will actually be hosting a huge graduation summer party and potluck to visit with many of my friends and celebrate my accomplishments while having some fun.

  I plan on doing a lot of volunteer work, internships, and maintaining a small job while doing research to start Seattle's first non-profit wearable art fashion show with a friend. It's going to require a lot of time and effort, but will be well worth it.

  I hope to be a non-profit business leader running my wearable art fashion shows, an established artist, have a few children's illustration books published, and continued success as a model.

  Being in honors has given me more specialized attention and critique as an artist, an opportunity that's hard to get as often otherwise. It's satisfying to be known as one of the top students and also allows me more freedom as an artist since my instructors give me so much freedom.

  Make use of all of your additional tools you gain as an honor's student, don't take them for granted. Some of the tools and resources you gain access to will not always be there for you.

  Honors has played a central and invaluable role in my undergraduate career. The philosophy of the program, and the people who bring that philosophy to life, have shown me the value of reflection, intentionality, and the power of strong community.

  My advice is to learn how to say 'yes' to new things and to learn how to say 'no' to other things. Both lessons can be challenging, but both lead to profound growth if you allow yourself to be changed by the experiences you have!

  English honors has been the most difficult series of classes I've taken as an undergraduate student, but also the most rewarding. I had a rocky, love-hate relationship with my thesis paper, but it was all completely worth it.

  Take the hardest classes you can and make yourself give presentations and have experiences you're afraid of, even if you don't want to, and especially if you don't know what you want to do after you graduate. Challenging yourself now will make you prepared down the road for anything and everything!

  I'll be waking up from the crazy events of going from my graduation to my Dream Project mentee's high school graduation at Chief Sealth, to going to my other high school mentee's graduation party. I'll then go to the airport to see my brother off as he flies to New York for a summer program.

  I'll be finishing up my Fulbright ETA in Vietnam and will be deciding between grad school programs at Penn / Stanford / Columbia and the desire to teach English in another country. I got the world on my mind, and education is the pathway to go about doing it.

  I will have wrapped up my fifth to seventh year of teaching in a high need, low income high school in a state other than Washington (New York?). I will then use my experience of working with underrepresented student populations to apply for an Ed.D in education, where I will teach at the university.

  Departmental honors gave me the creative freedom to research my thesis on anything I wanted while still be able to demonstrate the necessary analytically skills that I have honed through going the capstone projects.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  You have bonus opportunities like the Bonderman Fellowship and other programs. Take advantage of them and make sure you can be the best person you can be.

  Honors has shaped my UW experience. Living on the Honors floor my freshman year put me in contact with my current housemates and best friends. Furthermore, Honors classes have been my favorite. The individualized attention and liberty to choose my studies is something I haven't gotten anywhere else.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  If you are thinking about dropping the Honors program to make requirements for your major or graduate on time, really consider if there is no way you can't make it work. Even if you need to take one summer quarter or 18 credits at once, I think Honors classes are worth the extra time and effort.

  Never doubt yourself, or feel you don't belong in Honors. You are just as smart as your cohorts. Believe in yourself and in your work, and always stay in touch with your Honors professor/adviser! Lastly, have fun with your project!

  Back at my apartment, probably sleeping in. Also, attending my good friend's departmental graduation ceremony. And maybe heading back to my parents' house afterwards.

  Working full-time, hopefully somewhere in the Seattle area. I probably won't be working in my field, though; I expect I'll have a temporary sort of job at that point.

  Still working full-time, albeit in a career-type job that's hopefully in my field. If I end up earning my master's someday, I'll have finished it by then.

  Please share any comments you have on the impact that Honors has had on your undergraduate experience:

  Completing my thesis helped me to feel like my entire course of study as an undergrad culminated in something significant, even though the process of completing my thesis relied on the knowledge and skills I gained in a only a few of my classes.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  Keep at it! Fulfilling the honors requirements is a lot of work, but the sense of pride and accomplishment you feel when it's all over in my opinion is worth the effort. Also, communicate regularly with your mentor! They are a fantastic resource for all things related to your thesis, and more.

  Honors has not only allowed me to challenge myself academically, it has also rewarded me with valuable networking opportunities. I've been able to connect with faculty while delving deeper into my coursework and these experiences have pushed me to discover my true passions.

  I was recently awarded the DAAD German Study Scholarship, which will allow me to conduct research at the Fritz Haber Institute in Berlin, Germany. I will move to Berlin this September, and will stay there at least one full year.

  As tour guides, we speak about the importance of creating a sense of community for yourself (especially at a larger institution like UW). Honors has been that sense of community for me. I still remember nights on Lander 8 Freshman year...we'd do everything together. It was a home away from home.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  Don't take life too seriously. Embrace a balance of humor, failure, determination, and love for life. Respect the people that you meet, no matter what the circumstance. Understand that a 4.0 isn't everything (but boy, isn't it satisfying when you do it!)

  It's a balance. College requires dedication and responsibility to succeed academically. But you owe it to yourself to enjoy it and have a good time. A good friend of mine would say that you have to be "chall". But finding that balance is tough, it's something I'm still working on.

  Honors gave me a smaller community at the UW that allowed me to make an easier transition and continually be challenged academically. I appreciate that they have given me a well-rounded and full education.

  Travel, travel and travel. Do at least one thing in college you never expected yourself to do. Enjoy every second that you have left at UW, you are only young once.

  I'll be enjoying many fun-filled celebrations with family, friends, and other fellow graduates. And hopefully have the chance to finally sleep in!

  I will be graduating all over again! This time I will be graduating with my Master of Social Work degree.

  I am hopeful that I will have my PhD by then! If not, I'll be on my way to completing my doctoral studies in social welfare. I can't predict what the future holds but one certain thing is that I will continuously immerse myself with new and enriching learning experiences.

  Pursuing Departmental Honors has allowed me to engage with more academically rigorous studies and diversify my undergraduate experience.

  The most impactful classes I've taken at the UW were through the Honors program. They've challenged me to grow both inside and outside of the classroom. As a bonus, I also met some of my best friends through Honors.

  Don't let your goals prevent you from trying new things! Take advantage of the opportunities available to you. Find time to take those random classes that interest you because you never know where they'll lead you.

  One day after I will starting my new job as a Medicinal Chemist at Gilead, and hopefully afterwards I will be able to celebrate my completion of my undergraduate degree!

  Hopefully I'll be traveling somewhere. Maybe Iceland? Or Nepal? And preparing to attend Medical School in the fall.

  Hopefully I'm happy with where my personal and professional life is. And hopefully somewhere abroad!

  The honors classes I have taken have been some of my best classes, just because they have taught me how to think creatively and across many different disciplines.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  Don't be afraid to take a class just cause! I have taken so many random classes, but have found that because of that I'm much more well-rounded now than I was 4 years ago.

  I plan on celebrating Father's Day with my family and counting my blessings. I couldn't have completed college without their support!

  Oh boy wouldn't that be nice to know! I will hopefully be going outside of my comfort zone and moving to another state to challenge myself and take advantage of any opportunity that comes my way.

  ... Ten years after graduating?

  Let's see, at 31 I hope to have completed my Masters and be working at a multicultural high school as the "cool" teacher. Outside of work, I hope to be starting a family with my future-husband and teaching our youngins lessons of life.

  Please share any comments you have on the impact that Honors has had on your undergraduate experience:

  It helped take my educational goals to a higher level allowing me to research topics I was genuinely interested in. I definitely became closer to the UW faculty, as well as the library, which was involuntary, but worth it.

  Do you have any advice for current Honors undergraduates?

  Remember there is more to life than just college. There is a huge world outside of lecture halls, UW, Seattle, even the U.S. Go explore the world and expand your outlook on life!

  Participating in Honors has increased my motivation to do well within research and academia. I was honored to have been given the chance to be recognized as a student with Biochemistry Departmental Distinction. Since my advisers saw highly of me, I wanted to make them proud by doing well in my work.

  The best friends I've ever had I've met through the honors program. The study abroads I went on to Sierra Leone and Morocco through the honors department were some of the most amazing experiences of my life.

  The best friends I've had in college I've met through the honors program. The unhappiest people I know are the ones who only saw their peers as competition. The honors program isn't just about the program, it's about the people. Take advantage of that and you'll have a great experience!

  Do you want the honest answer? Sleeping and being in a constant state of shock that I've graduated.

  Who knows? Maybe I'll be traveling the world, maybe I'll have been accepted to Public Health graduate school in New York, or maybe I'll still be in Seattle working as a Research Coordinator at Harborview Medical Center. It's exciting to not know what my next step is going to be.

  I don't even know what I'll be doing two hours from now, so asking me where I see myself in ten years is a whole new level of confusion. Hopefully by 2024, I'll have established a career that I'm in love with. Whether that career will be public health or art orientated is still up in the air.

  The Honors program was absolutely amazing and exceeded my expectations. The classes I have taken through Honors are unforgettable and have dramatically influenced my experience at UW.

  Take risks, get out of your comfort zone. I know Honors isn't for everyone but give it a good run. The courses offered through Honors are extremely diverse and they all have so much to offer so take advantage of the opportunity and you may be surprised to see how how it'll affect you.

  I will probably still be working in an investment management company if I am lucky enough to get a working visa. Or I will probably go back to school to get a master degree.

  I don't know. Probably working in a boutique investment firm in New York or San Francisco.
