Year at UW: First

Hometown: Olympia, Washington

About me: Hello, I am Natalie! I am a freshman from Olympia, Washington and studying Disability Studies and Neurobiology with a minor in Spanish. I am living in the Honors LLC this year and truly enjoy living and being a part of the Honors community. Coming from Olympia (about an hour away), I was not sure what my transition would be like, but I have met so many amazing people and am very glad that I chose to come to UW. I am really passionate about being involved here at the University. I got involved in research, clubs, going to different events, etc, several of which focus on working and connecting with people with disabilities, which I began doing in high school. I am doing research related to language development in people with disabilities, I play Special Olympics sports, and am part of a group to bring people with intellectual disabilities to the UW as students. I have also found new hobbies here at the UW, like using the Maker Spaces, especially the laser cutter and ways to be active like playing tennis and skiing. There are so many ways to be involved at the University and I would love to talk about things that I have been involved in and ways to find your community!
