Alumni book club: The Heartbeat of Wounded Knee

May 21, 2020

Did you know that ANYONE can join the UW Alumni Association book club? That’s right, you don’t need to be a member to benefit from the curation of titles and thoughtful community discussion led by UW librarians and guest speakers, online!

You can join the UW Alumni book club at any time. We are also hosting a live discussion for Honors folks on May 21. Timing based on participant availability.

Join the club in two steps (three for overachievers)!

  1. Sign up for the UW Alumni Association book club (for free, online).
  2. You’ll receive information to access featured texts and a monitored chat interface full of cool, thoughtful humans. Read and discuss at your own pace, choosing from many texts.
  3. For added engagement—and incentive to read on a deadline—join the Honors-hosted video discussion on May 21. We’ll focus on The Heartbeat of Wounded Knee, by David Treuer, described as “a sweeping history—and counter-narrative—of Native American life from the Wounded Knee massacre to the present.”

To join Honors’ Zoom discussion, register below and we’ll send you meeting details and a few prompts to help you prepare.
