Proudest Moment: Arwa organized "Celebrate Yemen" an exhibit on Yemeni culture. It included photographs, a fashion show, local artists, traditional foods, and artifacts from across the country. Through this event, Arwa was able to share her culture with the UW community.
Thesis: Remembering the Lebanese Civil War: A Comparative Analysis of Discourse Among the Diaspora
Arwa Mokdad is graduating with a B.A. in International Studies. Her studies have focused on human rights in the Middle East. As a child of Arab immigrants, she is passionate about peace efforts and activism in the region. She has spent time in Egypt, Turkey, Qatar, Lebanon, Yemen, Oman, U.A.E, and Jordan. Growing up between the U.S. and Middle East solidified her global perspective on regional challenges. While at UW, Arwa was able to study abroad in Nizwa, Beirut, and Rome. These experiences furthered her interest in international cooperation and cross-cultural exchanges.
