Neal Koblitz (Mathematics)

Neal Koblitz received his PhD in Mathematics at Princeton in 1974, and has been at UW since 1979. His research is in number theory and cryptography, and he is the coinventor of elliptic curve cryptography. In recent years he has coauthored a series of papers critiquing the way mathematical "proofs" are used in cybersecurity. He is secretary of a small foundation called the Kovalevskaia Fund that supports women in STEM fields in the Global South.
