Jang Wook Huh (American Ethnic Studies)

Dr. Jang Wook Huh is an assistant professor of American ethnic studies at the University of Washington. He specializes in ethnic American and comparative literature, with an emphasis on the circulation of blackness in a transpacific context. He is currently completing a book manuscript on the literary and cultural connections between black liberation struggles in the United States and anticolonial movements in Korea during the Japanese and American occupations. His work has appeared in American Quarterly, Comparative Literature, Journal of Korean Studies, Langston Hughes Review, Literature Compass, and other venues. His research has been supported by the American Council of Learned Societies, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Social Science Research Council, the Council on Library and Information Resources, and the Fulbright Program, among others.
Before joining the faculty at the University of Washington, Professor Huh taught in the Department of English at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York. He holds a BA from Seoul National University and a PhD from Columbia University.
