Proudest Moment: Spending my summer taking an intensive Arabic course
Thesis: Reducing Amyloid-Beta Aggregation in Caenorhabditis elegans: A role for Retrograde Response Signaling and bZIP transcription Factors
I grew up on Vashon Island, WA, which sits in the Puget Sound. While at UW, I was able to spend three years conducting undergraduate research on mitochondrial retrograde signaling and Alzheimer's disease. I also had the opportunity to learn a lot about toxicology & public heath while working as an assistant for the Institute for Risk Analysis and Risk Communication, and come across new biological methods as an research intern at DotQuant. I've enjoyed getting my degree in biochemistry because it has allowed me to interact with many interesting sub-fields of biology -- from protein design to drug metabolism! I'm excited to spend my summer continuing my internship before (hopefully) exploring abroad and applying to graduate programs.
Outside of class, I love to spend time with family and friends, tend to my plants, go birding, and try new desserts on the Ave!
