Audi L Brown

Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies
Designation: Departmental Honors
Honors Grads 2020/2021
Proudest Moment: My proudest moment at UW is being named the recipient of the 2021 Herring Phelps Award for Scholarly Activism for Department of Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies University of Washington, Seattle. Being accepted into the GWSS Honors Program and achieving my goal of Summa Cum Laude. Also, having the courage at the age of 50 to complete my undergraduate degree at the University of Washington.
audilbrown@outlook.comI am a visionary committed to the elevation of Black culture. My work uses vulnerability as a site and methodology to study my African ancestor’s ancient healing techniques to cultivate a path to generational healing of the trauma inflicted on African and Black people. At the age of 50, I accepted the challenge from my family to finish my college education. It was essential to create a path of Black excellence for myself, my family and to inspire others who look like me to complete their education. I accomplished all of the goals for myself (Summa Cum Laude, Dean’s List & Honor Student). I plan to continue my education and pursue my graduate and doctorate degrees.
