Proudest Moment: Finishing my summer internship with the Cooperative Institute for Climate, Ocean, and Ecosystem Studies!
Hello! My name is Haley Staudmyer. I'm a climate scientist. I moved 2,000 miles away from everyone and everything I'd ever known in Ohio to receive an education at one of the best atmospheric sciences departments in the nation here at the UW. During my time here, I have officiated two clubs (the UW Chapter of the American Meteorological Society and Husky Gaming Nation), completed two different undergraduate research projects, and all the while maintained an impressive 3.8 GPA. My immediate post-graduation plan is to take a gap year in Seattle, during which I will work for the Cooperative Institute for Climate, Ocean, and Ecosystem Studies. Afterwards, I plan on moving who-knows-where to complete a PhD in atmospheric sciences. One day, I hope to author reports for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and facilitate important conversations about climate change among the media, the public, the government, and the academy. When I'm not thinking about one of humanity's greatest challenges, I enjoy board games, all things Nintendo, long walks, cooking, baking, playing the saxophone, and petting dogs.
