Proudest Moment: Becoming fully bilingual

I grew up on Vashon Island, right outside of Seattle, and plan to remain in the city following graduation. Despite majoring in Microbiology, language has always been one of my favorite subjects, leading me to pursue a minor in Spanish. I've been fortunate enough to try out undergraduate activities ranging from undergraduate research for UW's Biology department, to shadowing and volunteer work at Harborview Medical Center, to working with patients myself as a Medical Technologist. The one box I was unable to check as an undergraduate at UW was studying abroad, so I've made it a goal to live outside the US for at least a month before 2021 is over (pandemic-permitting).

I plan to apply to medical school this summer and spend my gap year working, spending time with family, pursuing other interests, and making sure I truly want to be a physician.
