About me: Hi! My name is Kaelyn Pacpaco, and I'm from O'ahu, Hawai'i. I'm currently a freshman intending to major in Public Health-Global Health. I serve as the Honors Communications Intern and work in the Giacani Lab, where I study virulence factors of Treponema pallidum, the bacterium that causes syphilis. I'm especially interested in neurodegenerative disease, microbial pathogenesis, and the social determinants that shape healthcare access and delivery. Outside of academics, I enjoy exploring new cafés with friends, reading a good book, and spending time with my two French bulldogs. My favorite class at UW so far (and one I'd recommend to anyone!) is HONORS 230 Safety Net Hospitals in the U.S. with Dr. Bann. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions about classes, getting involved in research, Honors, or anything UW-related!
