2nd-year Applications for Honors

First-year Huskies earning your bachelor’s degree in any major now have the opportunity to join the Honors community’s Interdisciplinary Program (IHP) in Autumn 2025. Honors is a great community of highly-curious students who opt into engagement with many ways of knowing and forms of learning. Applications are due April 10, 9:00 a.m.

Honors students are enthusiastic learners from all backgrounds and majors who are interested in interdisciplinary learning, reflection, and experiential learning. Students join a curriculum and a community in the Honors Program and can combine Interdisciplinary and Departmental Honors with any major.

Interdisciplinary Honors is ideal for those who seek:

  • deep engagement in courses outside of your intended major; 
  • challenge and rigor in a collaborative community;
  • practice reflecting on your options, choices, and what you’re learning beyond the obvious;
  • diverse perspectives and global engagement;
  • the intimacy of a small intellectual community in our big public research university.

You’ll earn Interdisciplinary Honors distinction via these requirements:

  • 9 Honors courses that overlap with UW General Education requirements
  • 2 one-credit seminars one-credit introductory/closing seminars (HONORS 100 & HONORS 496)
  • 2 Experiential Learning Activities to apply classroom knowledge in the real world (International Engagement, Research, Service, Leadership)
  • 1 Portfolio to reflect on student experiences through a collection of artifacts
