At UW since: 2025
Connect/View ProfileI'm a Creative Writing & Cinema and Media Studies major with an interest in queer studies. I love, love, LOVE getting intellectual about history, societal issues, and potential paths the future holds for humanity (I truly do think about these topics ALL THE TIME). I'm a second-year admit to the Interdisciplinary Honors Program and my decision to submit an application came with the realization that I wanted to delve into academics with people that cared deeply about their topics as well. I am a person that cares very deeply and strives to see the best in the world; I am always open to having interesting conversations! If you need a person to listen or want to share ideas, I'm the person to go to (not to toot my own horn). Lastly, the humanities are my favorite area of study (although all disciplines are wonderful!), so to any humanities majors out there who want to talk about how their interests align in a STEM driven world, I love talking about that too!

Hometown: Fresno, CA
At UW since: 2024
Connect/View ProfileI'm a current second-year student at UW, and I am so excited to be a Peer Facilitator for Autumn 2026! My two majors may seem really random, but part of why the Honors Program is so special to me is that it has allowed me to blend my creativity and STEM focus into a curriculum that best supports me. My passions for design and educational equity have pushed me to explore how I can make both traditional school and dance classrooms a more inclusive and community-focused space, hopefully by becoming a Product Designer in the educational technology field. Being Latina, my community is so important to me, and I am so glad to have found people at UW that make it easier to be so far from home. Besides Honors, I'm also a proud member of The Sisterhood Initiative, a cohort-based program for underrepresented women of color. I also stay connected with my community through my work as the Social Media Intern for Washington MESA and as a photojournalist/videographer for The Daily, UW's student-run newspaper. Outside of school, I love reading, hanging out with friends, trying out new cafés, but most especially, the arts! I have and am continuing to perform with the Dance Department and Stage Notes, UW's musical theater RSO, and sometimes even off campus. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to make a new friend!

In my free time, I enjoy reading, going on runs around Seattle, backpacking, and journaling. I'd be happy to chat about the honors program or, honestly, anything about UW or college. Please feel free to reach out!

Connect/View ProfileHi! My name is Josephine. I'm a physics major who enjoys doing niche things across campus, including learning medieval change ringing and giving Planetarium shows. You can probably see how I would love Honors, both for the academic enrichment and warm community it provides. And it turns out that I get to be an honors peer facilitator in 2027! Yipeee! I hope to see y'all in my section :). Some of you may already recognize me from my time as a virtual orientation leader :O I have experience navigating the world of hard STEM as someone with interests that definitely don't fit within the confines of hard STEM. Here are some things I've done, which I'd be happy to talk to people about: UW music ensembles, club leadership, intro physics and calculus, research, ad hoc honors project, on-campus employment, meaningful volunteer opportunities, starting a goated support or study group...there's probably stuff that I'm missing... Anywho, please reach out to me if you want to share your wacky interests or learn some strategies to get more connected to the UW!

Major(s): Biology-Physiology, Public Health
Hometown: Ellensburg
At UW since: 2024
Connect/View ProfileHi everyone! My name is Cate, and I'm a second-year student at UW studying Biology and Public Health on a pre-medical track. I'm especially interested in exploring the intersections between human behaviour, natural environment, and community to support wellbeing. On campus, I'm the president of Peaks and Professors, an outdoor mentorship and community-building RSO; a research assistant in the Environment and Wellbeing Lab; and a Student Tour Guide, introducing our campus to awesome new students! I absolutely love Interdisciplinary Honors because it challenges me to connect subjects that I may have previously thought were disparate, encourages curiosity, and allows me to meet some really awesome people that I may not have otherwise interacted with on campus! This was especially helpful during my first year at UW, when I lived in the Honors LLC in Terry Hall. In my free time, you can find me doing all things outdoors, procrastibaking, seeking out live music, travelling, and reading in sunny spots on campus with friends. Please reach out with any questions about life at UW and in Honors, undergraduate research, the Honors LLC, or anything else at all--excited to hear from you!

Major(s): International Studies and Multilingual/Language in Education
Hometown: Vancouver, WA
At UW since: 2025
Connect/View ProfileHi! My name is Ellie and I am a first-year at the Jackson School of International Studies. As a high schooler, I went through public, private, and online schools in the US, South Korea, and the Republic of Georgia. I'm interested in joining the Peace Corps after my undergrad and continue working with the State Department or as an ESL teacher abroad. I love to travel and am already starting my college study abroad journey in Barcelona, Spain this summer! I've gained friends from all over the world, so I try to visit them in new places when I can. As for activities, I did varsity cheer and a lot of volunteering in high school, as well as choir and theater which I still do now. Last quarter, I was in the StateNotes shadow cast of Rocky Horror! Back home, I frequently go to the movie theater, Target or the mall, and my favorite restaurants with my best friends - I am a huge foodie and movie connoisseur. At the UW, you will typically find me going on walks, on the Ave right next to campus, or at my sorority house. My favorite outings are karaoke at Cafe on the Ave, getting a spontaneous piercing at Deep Roots, and taking a trip to the UW College of Music practice rooms for more karaoke. I try to spend as little time as possible in one spot or inside in order to gain new experiences everyday. Feel free to reach out about anything! I'd love to answer any questions:)
